The producers of the Monster Hunter movie have apologised after the movie was pulled from Chinese cinemas over a racist joke scene.

Over the weekend, Eurogamer reported on how Monster Hunter World was getting review-bombed on Steam because of a racist joke in the Monster Hunter movie.

The Paul W. S. Anderson-directed Monster Hunter movie launched in China last week – and was soon pulled from theatres after a backlash to a clip of the movie that shows an American soldier ask another American soldier: “What are my knees?… What kind of knees are these?… Chi-knees.”
