The rollercoaster ride that is Sony’s attempt to get an Uncharted movie made has hit a new trough after its director left the project.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shawn Levy, who helmed both Night At The Museum films, Date Night and Real Steel, has stepped away from the Uncharted movie to direct Free Guy starring Ryan Reynolds. Apparently Sony’s after a new director, while Tom Holland remains attached to star as a young Nathan Drake.
Sony Pictures, which owns the film rights to Uncharted, has been trying to get a film version of Naughty Dog’s adventure video game off the ground for years. At one point, Mark Wahlberg was set to take on the roll of Nathan Drake, with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci set to star, too.
