Warframe’s space-battling Empyrean update now available on Xbox One and PS4

Following its release on PC last week, Warframe’s long-awaited Empyrean update, which brings deep space combat to the free-to-play sci-fi hit, is now available on Xbox One and PS4.

Empyrean, you might recall, was initially unveiled at last year’s TennoCon, under the name Project Railjack. The accompanying trailer, which showed teams of players being whisked into the darkness of space in their upgradable battleships to challenge huge enemy vessels, still does a wonderful job of conveying the thrill of combat among the stars.

Railjack battling is intended to be a co-operative experience (better balancing for solo play is coming later), with teams of four able to serve different roles during encounter – namely tactical, piloting, gunnery, and engineering. Before all that, however, players must assemble their Railjacks by completing quests and gathering resources – something that’s been possible since the release of Warframe’s Rising Tide update – and then it’s time to fly.
