Back in 2003, I was about seven and busy running around the playground flinging mini lightsabers salvaged from cereal boxes at my friends. Chances are I also played Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy at a friend’s house when it was released that year – and thanks to some upcoming re-releases, we’ll soon be able to play it again on Switch and PlayStation 4. Oh, and also its predecessor Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, but I was probably a bit young for that.

Announced during last night’s Nintendo Direct, the classic game ports are landing on both consoles in the next few months. Jedi Outcast is due to arrive on 24th September, while Jedi Academy will turn up sometime in early 2020. Next year’s offering will also include some “exciting online multiplayer maps” from the original version of Jedi Academy.

The re-releases are being handled by Aspyr Media, which has previously ported other major franchises such as Call of Duty, Civilization and Borderlands.
